WOW!!!  The valley of the sun is smokin’ in the desert.  KOOL greetings from Mary & I in the Great American Southwest and Tempe, Arizona.  More of the lazy-crazy days of summer poolside, chillaxin’ listening to great oldies.  We love everything from the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s (sometimes even the 40’s are great to clean the house to with an uptempo fun feeling).  We hear rumors of “Summer Splash 2009″ in the wind and more fun on the way.  Mowtown’s Smokey Robinson will be in town at Celebrity Theatre on Wed, July 1st, as part of Independence Day weekend.  The Fireworks are on Saturday, July 4th!  Speaking of “Fireworks” I hope you and your family have an incredible summer with lots of family, friends, fun and more love.  It is amazing how much fun we can have in our own backyard with great music, and a COOL (ooops, I mean KOOL) refreshing adult beverage .  Here are some recent photos of the Bortelino road show for 2009.  I have been asked:  “Lee, why do you call yourself Bortelino when your last name is Bortel?”  Well, that’s true, but Mary’s last name was Sparacino (as in Italian) and we thought it would be better to blend the two names together into one Irish, German, Native American, Italian and above all AMERICAN family name!  God bless the USA!

Greetings from the land of music and love at KOOL 94.5!!  Mary & I have been working on the home front like so many of us.  With the early nice weather we can plant more flowers and finally clean the garage.  Our big event of the past week has been the completion of the “Cabbage Soup Diet.”  Day One: Nothing but fruit and cabbage soup.  Day Two: Nothing but vegetables and cabbage soup.  Day Three: Nothing but fruit AND vegetables…and cabbage soup.  Day Four: “Monkey Day” nothing but bananas and skim milk…(yes) and cabbage soup.  I never knew that monkeys drink skim milk!  You get the idea…on and on, BUT, the wonderful news is…”we feel great!”   

 Hopefully everyone in your family is doing well and living & loving life!   It all seems to go better with some great music,  so “thanks for listening to KOOL!”  BTW: As a regular listener you are aware that I now work on Saturday 10 am -2 pm.  Our web guys are overworked like all of us…so, I’ll give them ’til June to make any minor changes.  In the mean time let’s you and me have some FUN!!
